Stonework has far more staying power than most trends\u2014evoking an austerity due to the texture and natural essence of the medium. The trend towards architectural minimalism has been in development dating back at least 50 years, and for much of that time, we\u2019ve seen a unique marriage between\u00a0brutalist\u00a0concrete applications and the\u00a0contrasting naturalism of oak, timber, and bamboo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2021, we\u2019ve seen minimalistic architecture begin to incorporate\u00a0artistic\u00a0stonework in their designs\u2014bringing much needed texture to projects heavily dependent on glass or quartz and incorporating the naturalism\u00a0that most minimalist designs desire.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stone veining is defined by winding,\u00a0branching lines that form stone and similar materials due to mineral deposits. Think of the lines that make up much of the texture of a granite countertop.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stone veining in stonework brings an asymmetrical beauty to design. The random and uneven nature of veining brings a naturality that is difficult to replicate in synthetic or artificial materials. Organic patterns created by stone veining add to a\u00a0space\u2019s ambiance and\u00a0help to balance out any artificial elements within a space.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
